Our Story
“Craftsmanship is not about making something that meets expectations. It’s about creating something that changes them.”
Meet Jasmine Olivia
Owner/Bartender
Hi! My name is Jasmine Olivia and I’m the owner of Bar Snob, a bartender, and a food and beverage enthusiast. I started my journey in food, beverage & hospitality roughly 14 years ago, at the age of sixteen, as a server in a pizza shop and have had an on-again, off-again relationship with the industry ever since. I started bartending in 2011 at a high-end bourbon and whiskey bar for a local BBQ restaurant. During this time, I was taught the art of crafting cocktails, pairing spirits with different dishes and the history of cocktail making and mixing. My love for bartending started here and never left me.
I’ve worked in all types of spaces, including clubs, dive bars, and restaurants. After leaving food & beverage for my corporate career, I started taking clients on a freelance basis for private events. I’ve serviced weddings, birthday parties, bridal showers, festivals and corporate events. After moving to Birmingham, Alabama, I noticed that quality cocktails, especially hand crafted ones, were not readily available in spaces owned and operated by people of color in my area. I was tired of having to choose between my culture and quality, so I decided to do something about it. I combined my freelance service with my love for creating cocktail mixes with quality ingredients and Bar Snob was born! My goal with this service is to bring quality, creative products and services to black and brown people, events, and spaces. Who says you can’t sip a nicely crafted grapefruit Old Fashioned, while doing the electric slide with family and friends? Some call it “bourgeois”, I call it best practice. I can’t wait to meet you and turn you into a fellow bar snob!
